Jeans for Genes Day – Supporting our friend Lachy
Thank you very much to everyone who donated to our Jeans for Genes day fundraiser. This was a particularly special opportunity for us to raise funds and awareness for this important cause and below (with permission) I share a personal story about one of our very own.
Lachy has been with Fit Kidz Glenwood South since 2016 where he started in our Happy Hippos One classroom as just a little baby. Over this time we have witnessed Lachy go through his diagnosis of SCN2A which has been a journey full of emotions and love.
Lachy was born with a rare genetic mutation (SCN2A). This directly impacts his neurological system & causes symptoms such as intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, and autism.
Fit Kidz has been through this journey with Lachy and has seen him develop many milestones and achievements. Lachy struggles with the day to day, but with genetic research there is so much hope for a brighter future.
